The loss for the latest 9-month period is $5.5M. Projecting that for a year is $7.3M.
The required revenue to reach breakeven then would be $36.5M. At $1K per test that would require 36,500 tests.
Violent crimes reported by the FBI in 2002 numbered 1.4 million whle nmurders constituted 16,204.
Looks like we will need much more than an order of magnitude increase in murders if those were to make up the bulk of the testing revenues in order to reach breakeven.
IMHO the prospects for profitability from forensics and genealogy testing are not terribly propitious.
Nevertheless substantial revenues should provide visibility that might be parlayed into better prospects for the company.
