Xcel Energy 4Q Net Climbs; Revenue Up $2.6 Billion Vs $2.47 Billion

Xcel Energy Inc.'s (XEL) fourth-quarter net income rose to $134 million, or 31 cents a share, from $97.7 million, or 23 cents a share, a year earlier, due in part to increased operating revenue.
The Minneapolis utility company said non-GAAP earnings rose to 33 cents a share from 26 cents a share.
A Thomson Financial survey of analysts, on average, predicted income of 28 cents a share for the quarter. Analysts' predictions typically exclude certain items.
Total operating revenue rose 5.5% to $2.6 billion from $2.47 billion a year ago.
The company also reiterated its expects 2008 earning from continuous operations of $1.45 to $1.55 a share.
