I went to bed last night thinking of this article and woke a couple times through the night thinking on it and off and on today as well. I keep asking myself, How can so few really believe? How can satan and all his grief and pain control the masses?

1st of all, if it was from most resources, I would be skeptical about the numbers...Maybe...but as far as I am concerned, James Dobson and Focus on the Family are right up their on my list of Bible believing and teaching folks. Now I know this poll or audit or survey or whatever you want to call it was done by a third party...But if Dr. Dobson and Family.org has it on their web site...I have to think it as pretty accurate or maybe trust worthy is a better word.

The survey says that 9% of the folks in the USA are "born-again Christians....meaning that they have a “biblical” worldview. By that ,the article says that that believe in the following;

1..Do absolute moral truths exist?
2..Is absolute truth defined by the Bible?
3..Did Jesus Christ live a sinless life?
4..Is God the all-powerful and all-knowing Creator of the universe, and does He still rule it today?
5..Is salvation a gift from God that cannot be earned?
6..Is Satan real?
7..Does a Christian have a responsibility to share his or her faith in Christ with other people?
8..Is the Bible accurate in all of its teachings?

Did you answer yes to these? Only 9 percent of “born-again” believers did.

http://www.family.org/socialissues/A000000548.cfm

Now I of course dont know what kind of a (+ -) error percent they put on their survey for accuracy...But let me take a look at what I think might be the case.

If 9% of Americans claim to be born-again by the standards of the Bible. With just over 300 million here in the USA that would be 21 million claiming to be born-again. And as we know all of them answered yes to the 8 questions above to be included in this 9%.

Well any person that claims to be a true believer is going to answer yes to those question...I would think...But how many of them are really living that way or really believe it in their hearts? I have known some people that claim to be believers and by their everyday actions I find it hard to believe. Now I cant say that as 100% sure because only they and God know that...But im sure you know the kind of persons Im talking about.

Hey im no saint either, But I do live by the word if you know what I mean.

So would it be fair to say that maybe, only 1/2 of that 21 million people ...or 10.5 million are truly saved....Lets say 3/4 of the survey number are really saved or 15 million. Is that any better?

Lets break it down a little..............

New York has 20 million people....The survey
Illinois has 13 million people...about 3/4 the survey
Michigan has 10 million folks...1/2 the survey amount

That freaks me out. They could gather all the true born-again believers up and put a fence around either New York or Illinois or Michigan and thats where we could worship our God.

That amounts to 384615 believers per state if the 9% is correct. Or could be as low as 192308 if it is more like 1/2 the 9%.

Is it fair to say that 1/2 of the people that claim to be christian...really are. I base that question on all the people that we know or see that sit in some of these Tv churches that listen to false doctrine but think they are saved!

Man, I knew the path was narrow but im talking a cow path to the pond here.

Am I missing something here....Isnt this just a little freaky...I mean, I thought there might be at least 20 % or so of people that claim to be believers in the USA. Not to say that they are but at least that many would claim to be!

I guess maybe I might think that because I saw somewhere not long ago that... "NOW"....some 90% of Americans believe in God...Of course as we know it takes more than just that God believing thing to get to Heaven.

So somewhere between 3303 and 6606 of the 73400 people at Super Bowl XLII would be 4-1/2% to 9%.
Lets keep that in mind when we are looking at all those folks in the University of Phoenix stadium Sunday if your watching. I guess that will kind of put it in perspective
as to lost souls vs Heaven bound just in the NOW or world today.
