Canadian investment in Nicaragua, valued at approximately US$ 80 million, is currently concentrated in mining exploration and includes Glencairn Gold Corporation's El Limón gold mine, RNC Gold Inc.'s La Libertad and Bonanza gold properties, as well as several exploration concessions (Brett Resources Inc., Chesapeake Gold Corporation, First Point Minerals Corporation, Inmet Mining Corporation, and Radius Gold Inc.). In addition, Gildan Activewear Inc., the world's biggest maker of T-shirts, has already invested US$ 4 million in a sewing facility in San Marcos and is in the process of building a US$ 60 million knitting plant for the production of fleece in the city of Nandaime.
