That's precisely why Carnes short sold RVGD, he short sold, at minimum, 240 million shares by borrowing against the convertible preferreds! Now he's desperate to (1) actually get those 240 million shares so he can cover; (2) keep the price down so he can cover at the lowest prices; (3) hightail it outta town with some skin intact after tangling with Peter Coraffi and Chad who thwarted his plan to short sell RVGD right into the ground and never have to cover by destroying the Company!
