IMHO, RFID and 2D are more additions to each other than competitors. As RFID is more expensive tech, it will be actual when money will go to mobile pockets.
Exception is Asia, where RFID (integrated into mobile as well) is vital because of high people density, and where public transpontation was a locomoto for RFID tech (transaction speed and security).
