TMY is in a buyout mode for some time now. You can get a lot of information from tr8dervic's board:

We used to discuss it in details over there. The problem with this latest buyout offer - it was made by TMY CEO who is going to buy it using his another private company. They don't have money and need to find financing yet. When/if they do, the price will double in a minute. Vic believes that $1.8 buyout is very likely in any case (because of the way how preferred shares were priced). I think there is some political risk - it's Kazakhstan assets after all. But comparing to pinky stocks it looks pretty safe at these levels - you have all filings, data, etc. Company is increasing production now. The question is: will it be profitable and survive if no buyout happens? BTW, Kazakh Government has the right of the "first hand" for all buyout transactions - this could be one more problem to get a good price. If they want to buy these fields, they probably don't want to pay too much.
