Ombow, Concerning a buyout, one problem from a regular shareholder's perspective is that Cortex management won't want to do a buyout for under $2, since at that level their options are still mostly underwater. So even if a BP offered $1.00-1.50, which would represent a nice double/triple for current shareholders, Cortex management won't be very interested. So in that respect, management's interests right now are diametrically opposed to those of regular shareholders.

Instead, management's current strategy is to spend the remaining cash in a bold/desperate 'go for broke' attempt to make their own stock options worth something.
