And Intel can't thrive in the sub $100 market.

I'll have to disagree strongly here.
Intel is much better prepared to compete in these markets than AMD. Intel is designing specific products for low cost market segements. Has AMD announced anything comparable?

It is AMD that can't thrive in the sub $100 market. They can't thrive in the markets they are in now. And they have no chance competing with 65nm X2s against Silverthorn.
