You initially claimed "never" go past $30, and confused Andy agreed wholeheartedly with you.

My posting tackled the ludicrousness of saying "never".

As for Intel getting above $30 this year, well that largely depends on whether the US economy tanks or not.

well , I don't have a crystal ball to say what will happen 20 years from now. When I said never ( less than optimal choice ) I was referring to 2-3 years down the road.Intel needs to deliver consistently over $2.5B of profits per Q to sustain $30.

I find this scenario highly unlikely.
1.As sales increase ASPs go down.
2.Costs will sky rocket at 32nm and below.
3.Competition from AMD.

Intel made $10B per Q in 2000 , in 2005 , now , etc.Wanna guess how units increased in the same time frame ?
They can't get over that amount or so it looks like. Why should they in the future ?

Silverthorne ? MIDs ? Will they have the same fate as Intel's communication push ?

Will that help or will Intel actually replace the $200 CPU it sells for a PC for a $20 chip inside a phone ?
