I want to thank you for posting... Can Satan Hear Our Thoughts. That really helped me. I had been wondering that.
Perhaps when the nonbeliever prays they are *talking to themselves because they aren't praying in His name. Maybe that isn't the best choice of words.

Years ago I attended Wed. eve. Bible study at my small mission church. I prayed that my donkeys hoof would heal. My Mennonite friend, after prayer time, and the study begin, said that I shouldn't pray for an animal. I looked around and asked everyone why not? Not one person, even the preacher said that I was wrong.
Many years later my friend who thought it was wrong for me to pray for my donkey prayed for her little dog when something happened to it. LOL
God helped my donkey heal. It was a long process but she lived and didn't go lame. (Her name was Jenny and she was bigger than some mules.)
I don't know about God not *hearing a non-believers prayers.

The Rich Man and Lazarus (Hell)
Only Jesus would of known what was said in hell. God Himself would know because our times are in His hands.
Also v24. So he called to him, Father Abraham have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.
Notice he's calling out to "Father Abraham". There he is in hell, and he still can't get it right. He's calling for the wrong person to help him. That just blows my mind. Shows me there are no second chances after death.
