Tom: I agree 100%

We're on the same page here. This is not anything new re Apple and supply/demand. The iPod and Mini are genuine senstions and I think the fish will still be around when folks can get the Mini from Apple and/or Mac resellers for sub-eBay prices.

I guess if I was looking for a weakness in Jobs/Apple I would stab them both for underestimating demand . . . and if too many Minis were spit out, I could stab again. If I was looking to praise them, I would thank them for the gem they created and the demand that gem has inspired - and the role it is playing in shoring up and growing the Apple.

Consumer product sensations are uncommon. For every few hundred (or thousand?) new products, perhaps only a handfull (or less!) reach the level of excitement of the iPod/Mini.

Hindsight offers one the convenient opportunity to ascend one's soapbox and beat one's chest re how it all could have been better. Against the canvas of Apple's past several years or so, I think the "situaion" looks pretty good, although it could be much better. :)

BR,

Kurt
