EW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks on Thursday sold off for a third consecutive day, propelling the Dow to nine-month lows, after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke spoke about the country's economic trouble and a regional measure of economic activity contracted.
