chipguy, I've been retired for six years and I admit I haven't kept up.

So I'm not in position to argue the finer points of CMOS with you. And I am basicly a software guy so, of course, I would defer to your more current hardware knowledge, being that you're the "ChipGuy". LOL

Back when I was programming the M68K there were no compilers available except on the Motorola Development System which cost $60K in 1980 dollars. So I wrote everything in assembler and it was very easy to code with. I never worked on a MIPs but I did code on a Sparc. And I tried the X86 but the memory segmentation issues made me crazy, so I'd rather not do that again.

Now I just code in Java, a little HTML for web stuff and eBay auctions, and an occassional session of Occam for the Transputer rig I still own.
