The only thing that stops us is our personal beliefs like religion and such. If I weren't religious, I wouldn't mind killing someone for money, but I know that someone above is watching every step I take so I have no intentions of doing such an act. And BTW, there are a lot of atheists (sadly) out there.
If criminals are aware that the 'victim' may inflict damage or even take their life, the crime rate will go down.
WRONG! Criminals are not scared of you or your gun. I don't fear a normal citizen who has a gun because I know they will be hesitant to use it. Criminals have big egos and are scared of few people. Remember, a lot of criminals listen to rap music, and boy is that a rush of ego!
