I am beginning to believe more and more that the genealogical world is not
ready for our product. Maybe in another 10 or 20 years after the slower
academic gene-anthropologists have discovered what we are discovering, and
published it, and then by the grace of their academic holiness, it is
accepted as anthropological fact. Then we could introduce Ancestrybydna 2.0
all over again and people would accept the fact that statistical genetics
inferences are estimates, and that low levels of systematic admixture are
common for certain ethnic groups. Either that, or the alternative which the
media would like to promulgate - we are all genetic clones of one another
and there is no such thing as population genetics structure.

Tony,

Believe me, it's not everyone who believe the nay-sayers here.
We, who do know that testing DNA is just discovering the marvels
of our genes and that the tests has to go through growing
pains to get it fine tuned, do believe in your tests. We also are
intelligent enough to also know that these tests aren't something
to take as bible truths and the only answers to who were are
as the tests are only in their infancy and yet have to get all the
bugs out of it to differentiate between the different ethnic groups
completely (if that can be accomplished at all). We know that the
world had much ethnic mixing and that some people have an
unrealistic view of what being mostly European means. Who
knows what our very prolific ancestors did what with whom
for a positive surety? That is why these tests are SO exciting!
It gives us a window peek back through time and gives us a
clue as to who we are. Just like you can't take for 100% surety
that the paper work you get and the family stories are 100%
correct, these tests follow that same vein and we must be
diligent in doing other research to go with the results. And
sometimes, even then, we may not be able to find ALL of
the answers to a 100% surety and will just have to accept
ourselves as we are, a big melting pot of mixed ethnic
groups and that we are truly more alike than first thought.
So please, continue on with your great work and know that
you do have a LOT of support and we thank you very much
for your great contribution to the genealogical arena!

Warm Regards from Maine,
Debby Reagan
