The point was that for almost 10 years T-Bills (about the most secure financial instrument) outperformed the S&P - by inference, the general market and probably the average fund - with far less risk.

Of course, most here are above average, but for a decade?

However, when managing my 90 year old mom's money we have her 80% in Treasuries and the 20% in high grade bonds and rock steady stocks like PG and KO.

Steady income for her needs and then some. Kind of a set it and forget it portfolio. Oh, she just had a 30 year 12.75% T-Bond called :)
