Diversified technology company 3M (NYSE: MMM) and Himax Technologies
Inc (Nasdaq: HIMX), a semiconductor solutions provider for flat panel
displays, announced on Sunday (6 January) that the companies have
entered into a strategic alliance to commercialise LCOS mobile
projectors.
Under the alliance, the companies will combine their proprietary
technologies to deliver a complete mobile projection solution to
consumer electronics manufacturers
3M has developed, and is providing, a miniature LED projection engine
that incorporates the single-panel colour filter type LCOS module of
Himax Display Inc, a subsidiary of Himax. Himax in turn will provide a
complete set of driving circuit and related electronics.
