Litmus Test for Calypso Patent Applicability

This is IMO. But after several reads, I believe you can take this test to the bank.

If a communication device is on one network media type ( for example, but not limited to cellular GSM/GPRS/EDGE, CDMA, WCMDA or LAN/WAN, WiFi, WiMax, Bluetooth, etc..) and a determination is made that the communications device is within range of another network media type and then a switch is made to the other network media type then that communication device is covered by US Patent 6680923 Communication system and method.”

It is not dependent on automatic or manual switching. The patent includes the issues of security and encryption but is not dependent on it. It is solely based on the system and method required of a communication device to switch from one Network Media to another.

I am sure there will be lots of negotiations going forward. Lets hope Calypso does not license ASNAP at such a high price that it encourages law suits. The hope here is that Calypso becomes an enabler not a crippler of the roaming wireless market.

Ice water in ones veins is handy when one rides a pink like CLYW. It has only happened to me once before. It was much like this and went from 50 cents to $25 in 1 year.

I rode it all the way. I’ve been looking for a similar one ever since. I think CLYW might just be it.
