i think i pulled the biggest backyard mechanic mistake. i tried to start my truck one morning and nothing, so i jump it and it starts fine. i remove the battery and alt. to have them tested, battery bad and alt good. get new battery. one week later, volts guage showing output at 10-11 volts, and i get a squealling from the alt. by this time i have already checked the belt, it looks fine, no cracks and it doesnt look worn. a couple of mechanics tell me it is my tensioning pulley, because i can push it down by hand to remove the belt. today i replace it. same problem, but i noticed the pulley on the alt is very hot when none of the others are. so i pull the alt again and buy a new one. guess what same problem. i think i should have just replaced the belt first, since its the cheapest thing. any ideas?

also, the squealing is not at idle
