DRS Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: DRS) announced today that it received an $18 million contract from Raytheon Missile Systems of Raytheon, Inc. (NYSE: RTN) in Tucson, Arizona , to produce infrared detector, Dewar cooler sensor assemblies for the Javelin Antitank Weapon Systems' Command Launch Unit (CLU).

The work will be accomplished by the company's DRS Sensors & Targeting Systems - Infrared Technologies Division in Dallas, Texas . The division will start delivering the infrared detectors this month with completion expected by November 2008 .

The Javelin is a man-portable, shoulder-fired, fire-and-forget, antitank missile employed by dismounted infantry units against armored combat vehicles. The Javelin system started its full rate production phase in 1994 and first deployed with military units in 1996. It is a replacement for the Dragon antitank missile system once used by U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps units, and is developed by the Raytheon and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) Javelin Joint Venture organization. Raytheon Missile Systems is a sub-contractor to the joint venture organization.

In addition to its work producing the CLU's infrared detector, Dewar cooler sensor assemblies, DRS also manufactures its cooled long-wave infrared detectors, its long-life cryogenic coolers, and assembles its vacuum Dewar and supporting command & control electronics.
