Contractor 10940, the reason the trading volumes and even prices for Montello are so different is because not all U.S. brokers are tied directly into Canadian brokerage houses...so they can't send orders directly to Canada to be filled for Canadian stocks for their American customers.

If a person wants to buy Canadian stocks at the best (lowest) price, always use a broker that has direct ties to Canadian brokerage houses....such as AmeriTrade.

I can get on my own AmeriTrade website and trade the Canadians as long as I know the 2 stock symbols Canadian and U.S. for each stock I trade.

Furthermore, I can find out the EXACT best U.S. price for each stock (whether buying and selling) by simply calling AmeriTrades toll-free number and asking them the bid, the ask, the latest trade and the amount of shares involved in each of those categories.

Making money in stocks is tough to do. Some stocks are great trading vehicles. But even trading stocks can become buy and holds as the company begins to really achieve the goals that management is seeking. Buyouts or producers reflect that success.
