dd.. the term 'domestic partner' is used quite often, and MANY companies offer benifits and insurance to same-sex domestic partneships, mine included, as well as many city governments.

"marriage" offers the next level up from that for gay couples in regards to Power of Attorney, health decisions, adoption, etc. And, of course, all the tax and property related issues.

I think it's long overdue in this country that consenting adults of any sex should be allowed to make a legal, binding commitment to each other.

I hate to say it, but with all the REST of the serious issues this country faces, the fact that the republicans are SO focused on this will probably be their undoing in the fall. And that pisses me off to no end.
