Dmenace, I'll tell you, I positioned myself before going away to, at least, be partially immune to the major indices decline.

It has proven helpful now, as this down day has had little effect on my portfolio.
Actually, being in many small & micro-cap stocks, I have a decent up day.

Like a wise person once said, there is always something going up. If you're active enough in the markets, and not tied to one sector or type of stocks, you can be nimble enough to avoid many (not all) bad days.
