Life,,i've never shorted a stock... but lets say you short a stock a dollar...do you get the proceeds from that sale at a dollar right when you sell?...or do you not get it until you cover?... The minute you short sell 1000 shares of xyz at 1$,,,does the 1000$ show in your account then?...or not until you cover lets say at .50cents?....please explain...thanks...I was thinking you get proceeds when you sell from the start..then when you cover you just subtract the price and you get whats left over..profit..I'm guessing i'm wrong...education time.. :)
