Notification of Illegal Action

The public is hereby informed that the Bank of Greece proceeded today (23 November 2007) to a Notification of Illegal Action to the Public Prosecutor of the Magistrates Court of Athens against the Credit Cooperative of Lakonia "Lakoniki Pisti". The latter was referred to on its website as "Cooperative Bank of Lakonia and Peloponnese", accepting deposits, granting loans and being engaged in bank transactions in general. The above actions constitute infringement of articles 4 and 6 of Law 3601/2007 entailing administrative and criminal sanctions, given that the Bank of Greece has never granted any bank license to the said Cooperative nor has the latter ever applied for such license.
