just my 2 cents..... they have been agressively selling....the price has plummeted. it's too low now and they need to create some excitement to get the price up and the volume up in order to sell more shares at higher price. so, they anounce that they are applying for a forward split. that creates some excitement and they start getting enough volume to sell more shares or they get a slightly higher price to get more for the shares they sell. either way, i bet this is done purely for the advantage of the seller.

the split may or may not happen. they may change their minds. they may never intend to split. it may take months if it does. the whole purpose is probably the excitement required and whether it splits or not, they don't care.

upshot is.....trade and take profits quickly.

but then.....they may actually want 5 times as many shares out there, i don't know.

all things multiply to the point of starvation.
