OK - time for a dose of reality
By way of introduction, I'm into this stock to the tune of about $35000 - and it wasn't at 32 cents a share… .
What do we have in NVEI ?
We have a technology which might work, which might be commercially viable, which might make it to the market if someone else doesn’t get there first with an alternative technology while NVEI is busy with grad students and poorly planned acquisitions, and if management can hold this whole thing together until we actually have a PRODUCT. We do not even have a prototype. We do have a confirmation that the technology works, but which was, for all practical purposes, done anonymously by Lucent and which was so namby-pamby that it had exactly zero impact on industry and investment experts. We have a lot of well-intentioned promises with few results. This stock is no secret - but I don't see it overwhelmed by buyers who are either experts in the technology or in investments or even just market gamblers - it seems that the bulk of the non-insider stock is held by only a couple of dozen longs left over from 2000 and the rest is used as a plaything by day traders. Let's face it - except for all the longs who stay long in hope of not losing their shirts, there is no significant interest in this stock.
It's hard to imagine that all the people who have been exposed to this opportunity and not jumped in with both feet, are deaf, dumb, blind and stupid. This is high risk. I'm all for a $400 a share stock price - but the chances that our high will be $1.50 are a lot better than the chances that most of us will ever approach the break even point.
While I desperately hope this stock takes off, I'm afraid that all hope of actually making money may depend on a 3-D surfing documentary - and - let's be honest - if you didn't own the stock, would you leave the house to see a 3-D surfing documentary?
Geez - that was depressing - I think I'll go to lunch.
