(OT) Dec Mkt Results re 2007 Stk Traders' Almanac

Page 130 includes a table and these comments:

..."It is no mere coincidence that the last two years (pre-election year and election year) of the 44 administrations since 1833 produced a total net mkt gain of 745.9%, drawfing the 227.0 gain of the first two y;ears of these administrations.

Presidential elections every four years have a profound impact on the economy and the stk mkt.. Wars, recessions, and bear mkts tend to start or occur in the first half of the term; prosperous times and bull mkts, in the latter half.

After nine straight annual Dow gains during the millennial bull, the 4-year election cycle appears to be back on track.

2001-2005 have been textbook examples.

A traditional Mid-term bear mkt bottom in 2006 and a banner Pre-election 2007 would not surprise us."...
