Motorola Sues Over Cordless Phone Patents

Motorola Inc. sued Vtech Communications Inc. on Tuesday for allegedly infringing five patents owned by the telecom giant, which disclose various cordless phone technologies.

Schaumberg, Ill.-based Motorola filed its complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, asserting five counts of patent infringement and seeking permanent injunctive relief, compensatory damages, and attorneys' fees and related costs.

Motorola further requested that the damages assessed for four of the five counts be trebled because Vtech's infringements of four of the five patents were, it said, willful....
