What you are overlooking is that these nations were developed by religious peoples, the secularism is of a very recent origin as is true of many western nations. I think the arrogance of liberalism in dispensing of social mores and conventions that have served mankind for eons, is quite dangerous and destructive. Even in America, that some have called the most churched nation in the world, secularism is running rampant. As a result we are experiencing social dysfunction. That is why we conservatives maintain that there is a culture war in the U.S. and that it is important that liberalism be defeated. We are not winning the war at present, but I am confident that the pendulum will swing again in favor of morality.

The only item of agreement I have with Osama Bin Laden, is that much of our cultural exports (movies, music, etc) is corrupt and immoral. I totally disagree with his remedies. The battlefield should lie in men's minds, not in violence, Islamic Jihadists propose a cure far worse than the disease.
