TJ, a tautologous predicate adds nothing to the thing defined: "a bachelor is an unmarried man", e.g. In other words you have to have the same thing on both sides of the "is".

In this case:

"Dips of the 20wma of NASI below -400 (X) tend to mark significant bullish reversals (Y)."

Here, Y adds information not found in X by itself. Subject and predicate are not the same. Hence the equation here adds knowledge.
