just a follow-up to your message.

The problem was indeed a memory leak when running concurrently Sun Java and Microsoft JIT compiler. I disabled the MS JIT Compiler (Java) 3 days ago, and now my system has been running like a violin ever since. (Even IB TWS that was always very sluggish has now some spring in its step <g>)
