Thanks for the response Spokeshave;
I'll take input from any source. LOL.
I've found over the years that the "so called experts" don't know everything.
I can't recall any waterhammer occuring when shutting valves off quickly. In fact the growl that i'm getting doesn't happen immediately. It takes some seconds for it to occur.
I'll wait to see if i get any other good suggestions before either breaking into the accessible pipes or calling back the plumber.
