Any longs actually pleased about IA-32e?

Yes. I am overall. It removes the concern of an incompatible instruction set. Intel had to make this move to IA-32e sooner or later as it was clear AMD64 was starting to build momentum. It shows Microsoft has some control over Intel, and they're allowing AMD to compete, keeping the market as large as possible.

Sure it would have been better if Intel did this in another year, but that wasn't very realistic.

AMD just needs to stay ahead in performance and play in all market segments, and it will be a fine investment.

I agree they still face some of the same problems of the past with penetrating the corporate space. AMD64 was their ticket in, and Intel has just removed that advantage. I think that makes it harder for them to make inroads, so that is certainly a negative.
