On2’s VP4 Technology to be Available on Texas Instruments DSPs
TI’s High-Performance TMS320C6000 Digital Signal Processors Will Integrate On2’s VP4 Codec for Video and Imaging Appliance Market
New York, NY, October 22, 2001 – On2 Technologies Inc., The Duck Corporation (AMEX: ONT), the industry leader in video compression technology, announced today that their VP4 video compression technology will be available on the Texas Instruments TMS320C6000 digital signal processors (DSPs). A version of the VP4 decoding software will execute on TI DSPs. The resulting product will bring high bandwidth video streaming at low bit rates to the set-top box and video appliance markets.

As previously announced, RealPlayer and RealAudio from RealNetworks are also available on this chip set.
On2’s VP4 video compression technology has been optimized for consumer electronic devices and offers the highest quality streaming video commercially available at the lowest possible data rates.

Near-DVD Quality at 450 Kbps: VP4 permits data receipt at 450 Kbps while delivering full screen, full motion at true 640x480 resolution at 24fps for film and 30 fps for video.
Near-VHS Quality at 150 Kbps: VP4 currently achieves near-VHS quality at 150 Kbps, at a screen size of 320x240 resolution at 24-30 fps.
