VMware earnings more than triple to $65 million

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- VMware Inc. (VMW:vmware inc cl a com
VMW 103.52, -2.63, -2.5%) on Wednesday reported a third-quarter profit of $65 million, or 18 cents a share, on revenue of $358 million. During the same period a year ago, which was before VMware became a public company, the virtualization technology developer earned $19.2 million, or 6 cents a share, on $189 million in sales. Excluding charges and one-time expenses, VMware would have earned $85 million, or 23 cents a share. VMware topped the estimates of analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial, who forecast a profit of 17 cents a share on $334 million
