I actually also heard this on the news in the car on this past friday.
I have not been able to find out anything further. The news story stated that cell phone numbers were to be made available to telemarketers starting this week. The story went further on saying that mobile users had to start requesting their cell phone number to be added to the DNC list.

Now this was an abc affiliate here in south florida....The stations web site had nothing, I also searched the FTC site. I found your link on Saturday. I know from experience the gov. sites are not updated in a timely fashion.....But several copi investors in my area who I know also heard this story.....

I believe the FTC response page was actually toward the fake emails that were prevailing several weeks back about cell phone numbers....

Anybody else hear this?
