... Unless the same people behind the I Kant shell were the same as those behind the Apriori shell (which bought discounted shelf shares).

Very likely IMO and I'm not the only one who thought so. See #msg-345830.

Since David Sims is alleged to have been involved in illegal short selling with so many other financings, the possibility that he shorted e.Digital stock seems to exist.
