"The Johnstown region got its first look Thursday at a vehicle that could have a major impact on the area’s economic future.

Lockheed Martin debuted its Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, JLTV, prototype at JWF Industries on Iron Street in downtown Johnstown.

JWF Defense, a subsidiary of JWF Industries, is a key strategic partner in the development of the vehicle, producing its frame, bed, doors and suspension system."

"Any edge on the competition is important at this point, Hasse said, because the time line on the project is beginning to tighten. The Army will begin a formal evaluation next summer of all vehicles vying for the award, which will lead to the selection of a group of finalists sometime in early 2009."
