nothing missing

"In other words, there has been nothing compelling enough to drive me to it on a regular basis, other than search. There seems to be nothing in my life that is missing that has me looking for solutions by Google."

I'm fairly certain you could roll the clock back to the 80s and substitute that very same sentence with "Microsoft" instead of Google, relative to Apple's apparent ownership and dominance of the personal computing market, and it would describe virtually all of the Mac market that eventually wound up migrating to DOS/Windows.

Except this time around Apple doesn't already own 70% of the premium/smartphone market, it owns less than 1/10 that. And ... relative to the Microsoft of yesteryear that licensed DOS from IBM, Google seems to be a lot more nimble, a lot more creative, a lot better capitalized, has an enormously larger brand recognition, and has a monster cash-flow market dominance in another segment to leverage.
