Cable California SA de CV, which successfully launched its 100-channel broadband cable service at the end of last year in the Matamoras area of Tijuana, Mexico, has thus far activated 10 nodes, according to Richard G. Lubic, CEO of Las Americas Broadband (LABN: .51). Cable California is an affiliate of Las Americas Broadband. With each node servicing approximately 350 homes, of the 1,800 homes that have been marketed to so far, approximately 1,000 have signed on to Opti Plat, Cable California's premium program tier, an "extraordinary consumer response by anyone's standard," stated Lubic. LABN popped up .25 cents (+96.2%) on volume that was 6X its daily average at 103,500 shares.
