ISO compliant companies develop their Quality manuals that includes specifications of the material to be used in manufacturing of certain items, it also include work procedure that describe in detail the process of manufacturing and it also include work instructions that identify in detail about the work involved. To see all the above are met as per each document there is a document called Inspection and Verification plan. That is carried out by company QC Inspectors at spot as per approved QC documents. If they find any thing outside the standards the inspectors raise Non-conformance report for that item/process or any work activity. Once this report is raised company is bound to rectify the defact.

If a company has very big client then there is usually a joint inspection of the processes and part manufactured before it is shipped. It costs company some time lot of money but it gives them world wide acceptance for their products.

Just wanted to share with you some info from my practical experience.
