I don't think so. From reading several posts from several people, I believe that there has been a misunderstanding on this board about what is being done this time in Ireland. My understanding, is that this is going to be similar to a program intel called "Voluntary Separation program (VSP). Here is the link to the story again....

Intel set to cut 4% of jobs in Ireland, says report

LONDON — Intel Corp., the world's largest chipmaker, is set to cut 200 jobs, or about 4 percent of the staff, at its Leixlip wafer fabs, according to an Irish Independent report.
Intel employs about 5,000 people at a series of wafer fabs in Leixlip. The jobs are mainly involved in flash memory production and will go by the end of the year under a voluntary redundancy program, the report said.

They don't say "Layoff" or "Redeployment" like the previous Ireland reduction, they say "voluntary redundancy program", which to me sounds more like the voluntary separation program that was offered by intel a few years ago in Arizona. When the VSP was offered several years ago at intel's Arizona facilities, the deal was, that intel asked for volunteers to leave, and the separation package offer included 3 months of pay, plus 1 week of pay for each year of service, plus extension of the medical benefits for 90 days after separation, plus free outplacement services.

Just and FYI, the way I heard it, was that at that time, they got more Arizona volunteers then they needed, and after things got better a year later, a whole bunch of those "VSP'ers" came back and were rehired. And another thing, I've heard from some of my Irish friends, that compared to other companies in Ireland, intel doesn't pay all that well over there. My guess is, they won't have too much trouble making the goal.
