Cotton, "Now, if you would, please, lay out the reasons why we had to have that second war?"

if you don't get it by now, you just aren't going to get it and you probably never will. But, that doesn't surprise me. It amazes me that somebody, who many people here on this thread (although I sure haven't seen evidence of it) think you're so wise, yet can't seem to see past the nose on your face concerning the need to remove Saddam. I expect that from democrats, being the most...ah, what's the use?

"Like he's going fishing. Those worms probably dried out in the car trunk. Give me a break."

Of course he's not going fishing. Get real yourself. Every politician in the world does that sort of thing. They go visit some manufacturing company, work on the line for a couple of minutes while the reporters take pictures etc, and act like their connecting with the "people"...yada yada yada. What do you think, when their done with office they're going to get themselves a job at that company working on the assembly line? Sheeesh. Quit with your nonsense. You sound like a five year old trying to make up any excuse not to have to take a bath.

"And now people are in immediate threat of losing their homes"

Oh pleeeease. Can't believe you are falling for all that democratic rhetoric. The sky is falling. We're all doomed. I for one Sorry to get defensive and loose control, but I get so tired of people like you with the same old stupid crap.

I'm mean listen to Altaire, "Taxes too high, not a problem, we'll write alot of hot checks and bankrupt the federal government and give the biggest tax cuts to the Top 5%. I mean we can always print more money and devalue the dollar further.

Is this what you would call good stewardship ?"

You see he fell for the democratic rhectoric hook line and sinker.

Here are two intesting post on RB from wdew and spasticElastic.

"Anyone done their taxes yet?

I did a preliminary run on mine, and have the following observations:

- Turbotax for Mac seems to work pretty well for actually getting the taxes done. It's so automated that it isn't great for getting a feel for how one should do tax planning, but grabbing the tax rate schedules from the appropriate pdf on the irs site helps a lot with that.

- The tax cuts are real. For us, the biggest tax cut comes from the elimination of the marriage penalty - a big help for married couples where both people work. (There's still a slight penalty for couples with combined net incomes above $114,000, but that doesn't affect us.) And for those who complain about tax cuts for the rich, the biggest cut is at the low end, where rates have been cut by a third over the last couple of years, from 15% to 10%.

- Marginal rates are still quite high for the self employed - close to 50% for me after state taxes are included. Oh well, it's better than the 80% effective marginal rate I was in a couple years ago.

- Oh, and in retrospect, I really should have bought a G5 in December ('cause of those high marginal rates). Hopefully I'll get some work this year and be able to afford one (or two).

"wdew: I saved about $1200 on my taxes under what I would have paid under last year's tax laws. Very big deal for me since I was laid off in October, and it looks like I'm going to have to take a job with a much longer commute than before."

I guest they're just part of the upper 5%.
