DOP we will never know the exact financial terms of each /any deal - this is true with all public/private companies - what is important is what the IFE device can mean to an airlines revenue which will result in I believe a number of airline buying this device - from what I know ALK has 700 IFE devices in service - let's assume only 600 are used daily and that the aircraft on the long trips are in service 18 hours per day and have 4 trips per day - the rental fee is $10 times 4 flights times 600 IFE devices equals $24,000 of additional revenue/day - 6000 IFE devices in service could equal $240,000 per day of incremental income - this does not include the annual fuel savings per aircraft estimated at $88,000/year do to no weight associated with the 2 miles plus of wiring typical for an embedded IFE system - doesn't include possible advertising revenues - lets not forget the $500,000 plus per plane for embedded IFE systems - seems many airlines would like this incremental income - if the rental fee drops to $5 it's still seems like the EDIG/APS IFE device makes sense
