I’ll Take the Heat For The PIN’s!October 4, 2007 6:03 pmWe did not anticipate the news that went out today, nor the response. I had been assigned out of town on a project for Wilf and left early this morning. When I was back within cell phone range I had a number of messages requesting a PIN so I headed straight for the office arriving about 30 minutes before the scheduled call. I had about 5 requests on my phone and Wilf told me he had received a couple of calls also requesting a PIN, but I certainly did not anticipate the other 102 requests that were in my inbox! I immediately sent out the PINs I could and continued sending them out during the call. I will get to the rest tomorrow. I have already received nasty emails from some who didn’t get them in time and to them I offer a sincere apology. I usually get about 5 requests per week and today’s deluge could not be predicted. The interest is appreciated though and the news is exciting.

The system that we have set up is a result of the abuse of the last system in which the anonymity of the callers seemed to invite unacceptable behavior. The PIN system allows me to know exactly who is on the line, the number they are calling from and it lights up when they are speaking. It alerts me when there is too much background noise that would indicate a speakerphone and I can mute that particular caller. Since setting up this system we have been very pleased with the quality of the callers and the respect they show one another. For that reason, we will continue to do the calls this way but if any of you are uncomfortable with this and want to opt out, email me and you will be removed.
