I can understand the concern for the level of secrecy and silence you've been observing regarding the technology and going for patent coverage.
One of the mossbacks expressed that to me a few weeks ago on the phone. That mossback is a business/finance major ... not a technical type.
I work as the director of technology and engineering for an aerospace component manufacturer and hold a number of issued patents, with another one being applied for next week on an item which NASA is excited about .. which they've tested ... and which, if we are successful, will mean a new product line for our firm.
I agree with the level of silence we've seen, and also understand that it takes time to develop a new technology with limited resources. They also have to be verrrry thorough in investigating all issued patents which may come close to the NVEI techonolgy. If the patent application contains wording and claims which might be included in someone else's patent, there will be a major problem in the future. The NVEI team has to be absolutely sure that the patent application(s) does not infringe in any way on someone else's patent.
Also, I suspicion that Dr. Greaves and Dr. Propp may be tweaking the Level 1 technology while adding the other levels of technology. During the developmental process, it is normal to add new ideas, etc. along the way. At some point, they need to stop for a moment and file the patent application(s).
Note also that it is my understanding that Dr. Greaves is the chief scientist and co-founder of Verata which is in the process of merging with Globespan (which, I think, acquired Pairgain).
What I like about the new team, is that they have a track record of successful completion of programs.
Just my thoughts folks. I hope everyone had a great Christmas, and to all a Happy New Year.
Kind personal regards,
Ben
