DIRK, one of my firsts posts back in early August 2007 mentioned that Doctor Dre was a former Beastie Boy DJ. This info can be found on Wiki & the official Beastie fan website. Interesting to see that the Beastie Boys will be at the famous Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame this March 2008. Other nominees are Madonna, John Cougar Mellancamp, Donna Summer (i love her and i want to to dance for me), and some others. But the article says that the Beastie Boys will the nominations because only 5 acts will be inducted.

"Madge joins heartland rocker John Mellencamp, the puckish rappers Beastie Boys and premier dance acts Donna Summer and Chic among the nine nominees for the hall. The five leading vote-getters will be inducted in the annual ceremony March 10, 2008, at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

The other nominees are rap pioneer Afrika Bambaataa, literate songwriter Leonard Cohen, the original British Invasion combo The Dave Clark Five and surf rock instrumentalists The Ventures.

The nominations illustrate how far the Hall of Fame has stretched its definition of rock 'n' roll to incorporate a variety of musical styles.

Here is another bit of info (although doesn't sound good) on their relationship:

"Hurricane started off as part of Run DMC's entourage in the mid 1980's. Then the Beastie Boys and Run DMC went on the Raising Hell Tour (1986), Hurricane stepped up and filled the role as DJ when Dr. Dre (of Yo MTV Raps fame) became frustrated with life on the road (i.e. having been left behind in a Florida hotel lobby). Around the same time that Licensed to Ill was being recorded, Hurricane went into the studio with Davy D and recorded the "Davy's Ride" LP. Davy D would later be an opening act for the Beastie Boys during parts of the 1987 tour."

Anyways, I wonder if Dre still is friends with beastie Boys and would talk to them,,,,about ISBL, and if they are interested.......new media social networking.......and if the Beastie Boys/DRE get nominated at the Spring 2008 hall of fame, well...I wonder if they would socialize and talk to other winners. You know, Madonna had the Beastie Boys open for her years ago....yeas she did:

"When Madonna was about to go on her 'Like a virgin' tour, she picked the Beastie Boys to open her show. The Madonna fans hated the Beastie Boys' music, however the Beastie Boys kept on playing. After a few shows the Beastie Boys began to thrive on the abuse.

So, you know,,,,,,,,I keep thinking what if they hook up, and get a superstar like Madonna involved with $$$$$$$$$. The more I keep researching this....I see that Doctore Dre also had association years back with DEF JAM records, where DEF JAM produced one of Dre's albums with a group called Original Concept:
Not to be confused with the N.W.A. member and multi-platinum producer of the same name, the jovial Doctor Dre (born Andre Brown) was one of the most visible members of the hip-hop community throughout the late '80s and early '90s. A former DJ at Adelphi's radio station, an ex-member of Def Jam's Original Concept ("Knowledge Me"/"Can You Feel It"), and a temporary live DJ for the Beastie Boys, Dre, along with Ed Lover, hosted the Yo! MTV Raps program for several years and became a hip-hop icon in the process. For thousands upon thousands of young viewers across the States, Dre and Lover were the faces of rap music. The duo starred together in 1993's Who's the Man, a hip-hop comedy about two Harlem barbers turned cops (it was the first feature directed by Ted Demme, one of Yo! MTV Raps' creators). The duo decided to step out on its own as a recording entity the following year, with the release of 1994's Back up off Me. Two years after that, the duo put out a book called Naked Under Our Clothes. Once Dre's profile waned, he went into radio broadcasting. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide"
