former World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov has turned his powers of strategic thinking to the game of politics, founding an umbrella group to promote free elections in his homeland. Kasparov says that politics in Russia, unlike the game of chess, has no rules.
he entered the treacherous world of Russian politics, and has become one of President Vladimir Putin's harshest critics, accusing him of abolishing democratic reforms, and turning over the country's vast natural resources to a small political elite.
Kasparov doesn't believe that today's Russia is a democracy. He calls it a "police state."
